The University of Toronto Technoscience Research Unit teamed up with Reflektor Digital to create Pollution Reporter. The Pollution Reporter App provides users with information that connects one of the world's oldest refineries in Ontario's Chemical Valley to its pollution, and its pollution to known health harms.
Pollution Reporter was featured in many publications like The Toronto Star and The Sarnia Observer.
We've provided beautiful and informative introduction slides to explain the app's features and introduce the visual language.
Using the Health Harms lookup feature, a user of the app can discover which chemicals cause a specific health symptom or reaction.
The app provides detailed information on over 70 chemicals and their effects on the human body.
The design of the icon reflects the primary purpose of the app: to raise awareness about land pollution spills and inform users of the health hazards of the released chemicals.
Our team used React Native to create builds of the app for both iOS and Android devices.
All content of the app is easily managed through Airtable and downloaded locally at launch-time, for offline use.
